Custom Patches: how it's done
The XP-82 project is going together in Douglas Georgia. Eric, from Chuck Hall Aviation, designed, and had this patch embroidered. He thought, in the spirit of the era, a leather patch would be warranted.
Once I got the design laid out I decided to tool the leather for an added dimension. Just a couple slight color changes and we came up with a winner.
The final product, tooled and painted. Since this was a modern patch we decided to take a modern approach to the colors. Bright, crisp, and a bit of gradient. All hand painted in acrylic.
The Chuck Hall Aviation patch was also designed by Eric. He commissioned me to translate these to leather, 1 for Chuck Hall and 1 for himself. It is a great design that really "pops" when done in a 5"
